Work Description

This Country Cottage home addition and renovation blends timeless elegance with modern comfort, transforming the space into an enchanting and cozy home. Smithwood Builders carefully crafted a picturesque exterior with painted wood siding, traditional brick, and cedar-shingled roofing, complemented by arched porticos, colonial windows, and vintage lanterns. A lush garden with winding paths leads to a custom-built swimming pool and hot tub, enhancing the storybook setting.

Inside, the warmth continues with coffered ceilings, mid-toned hardwood floors, and custom millwork that captures a dollhouse-like charm. Mullioned windows invite natural light, while arched cabinetry adds whimsical detail from the mudroom to the office. The children’s bathroom was redesigned with marble and brass, and an arched shower entrance left open for an airy, elegant feel. The primary suite and lounge shift the mood with a bold, dark palette, featuring rich quartz and brass accents, blending nostalgia with indulgence. Every handcrafted element, from vintage lighting to built-in seating, was thoughtfully designed to bring the Country Cottage vision to life.

Our clients were adamant about preserving the charm of the original home, one of the few remaining in the neighborhood. A little more space was needed for their growing family, so an addition was designed at the back of the home to accommodate a home office and a kids’ lounge, both with access to the backyard and new pool.
