Project Features

Work Description

A dated studio apartment was transformed into a luxury short-term rental while maintaining its original footprint and preserving as much existing drywall as possible to keep the investment affordable and profitable. The renovation included durable vinyl-plank flooring, custom ivory cabinetry with walnut accents, and Stratuarietto quartz countertops with a waterfall peninsula that doubles as seating. Consistent materials throughout create cohesion, with matching walnut millwork and quartz in the bathroom. The tub was replaced with a walk-in shower featuring floral and herringbone tile, complemented by brass and flat black fixtures. The unit also includes a washer, dryer, and storage, maximizing functionality in a compact space.

Challenges

Working with a Strata in downtown Vancouver requires clear communication and careful coordination. Scheduling access for trades must align with Strata rules, including work hours, elevator bookings, and noise restrictions. Parking can be a challenge, so securing temporary permits or arranging nearby off-site parking is essential to keep the project running smoothly.
